Around here...

Here's a picture from our recent trip to Michigan. I'm on the far right. The four kids are mine and the other guys in the picture are my brothers. Yea! The kids like their uncles.

Right now...
I'm home with the little one (now 20months old).
Not sure what's wrong.
He's had a fever off and on since Thursday afternoon.
He's had a rash come and go on his legs and neck.
He's a little grumpy and doesn't seem to have a huge appetite.
He hasn't been sleeping well and neither have I (ha ha ugh!).
He's rubbed his ears some but not a lot.
He has a bit of a cough, runny nose and sneezes from time to time.
And the drool - he's been chewing on the pacifier and drooling a lot.
I suppose I'll call the doctor and take him in this week. And, she will probably say it's a virus and he should have plenty of liquids.

What else is going on here? Let's see...

Friday morning I got all four kids ready to go on some errands. 8:45AM, Everyone was strapped into the van ... it wouldn't start. My husband came home and tried to start it - no go. So AAA towed it to our mechanic and Friday afternoon when they checked it out. Guess what. It started right up. So, I guess I wasn't supposed to take the kids anywhere Friday morning. Thankfully we have AAA and the mechanic didn't charge us anything.

We were very thankful this week to have a roof over our heads. There's been a lot of rain here in Indiana. Thankfully the drainage around our home is working well (husband's company did the site plan for our subdivision). We just had to detour around a couple spots in town because of flooding. The river is really high.

A couple of weeks ago we got a fishing pole. There's a retention pond behind our house. Our oldest son has decided he likes fishing. It's a great sport for someone who doesn't like to rush and likes to sit and think - that's our son.

We signed up for summer reading at the local library. Our red headed six year old girl has really been reading up a storm. From March to May, she read about 15,000 pages. She's read lots of picture books and chapter books. She's especially enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia, Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Mandie series, Magic Tree House books, and Encyclopedia Brown. Every afternoon at our house we have "rest time" from 1:30 - 3:30 (the older two read and the younger two nap). Her comment a couple of weeks ago was "I don't want to go to public school because I won't be able to read as much." I tried to assure her that she'll still have time to read and that she'll enjoy making new friends.
