First Day of School

Today was Daniel's first day of kindergarten. Anna went along for most of the school day.
We are homeschooling this year and today went very well.
We started at 8AM with The Lord's Prayer and The Pledge to the United States Flag. Then we did some handwriting, math, music, social studies, science, art and reading.
Anna helped me make brownies again and this time she reminded me to include the flour. They look much better this time!
It was a good day.

Something was wrong...

This morning my three year old wanted to help me make brownies.

We got out the recipe and all the ingredients and started mixing things up. It was breakfast time and I got distracted by the other two children and somehow failed to add the flour (a vital ingredient).

I remember pouring the batter into the pan and thinking that something just wasn't quite right.

About twenty minutes later as I was cleaning up the kitchen I came across the flour and realized that we hadn't put any in. As you can imagine the brownies were inedible and I had to throw the batch away.

Some things in life just don't work out the way we'd like.
