Waiting...

We are still waiting for a closing date. Our Realtor told us all the paperwork is in we are just waiting for the title company to set a closing date. We were hoping to move things today but instead we will be visiting the children's museum and zoo (more fun for the kids).

hold my hand

Last night we met friends at McDonalds.

They also have a three year old little girl.

One mother daughter interaction made me think how much God loves us.

We were walking around a big parking lot next to McDonalds (there were many screaming little girls in the play land). Ruthie was holding Mommy's hand. Then she chose to let go an run ahead. Poor choice. She fell and scraped her knee.

Her mommy picked her up and said (I'm paraphrasing) "I am so sorry you got hurt. I am so sorry you got hurt. I am so sorry you got hurt. Would you have fallen if you had been obedient and held my hand? Does it go well with us when we disobey?" Ruthie agreed that it doesn't go well when we disobey.

My friend's response is so like God. He cares when we get hurt and he binds up our wounds. And, He loves us enough to gently remind us that when we are disobedient it doesn't go well for us.

Like Ruthie, sometimes I can get impatient and try to get ahead of God - I may be headed in the right direction but I need to wait for His timing. It's so good to know that He wants what's best for me and like Ruthie's mommy, He love me even when I make a bad choice.

Family Picture

Our family went to Michigan last weekend. This picture was taken at my mother-in-law's home. It's hard to get six people looking at the camera with pleasant expressions. Of course it is nice that no one was crying at the time the photo was taken.

learning patience

How does the song go?

Be patient, be patient.
Don't be in such a hurry.
When you get impatient you only start to worry.

Well, we are having to be patient as we buy our house in Plainfield. We won't be closing this Friday. The title company wasn't ready - they were missing something from the homeowners association. Now we are just waiting for them... We should close no later than the June 28. Once we have possession we need to get the house painted and the carpets cleaned. Then we will finally be able to move in. YEA!

fun with family

We spent Memorial Day with my husband's uncles and their families. The picture is us with my husband's sister. We are living with her until we buy our own house. We are hoping to close on June 22nd.

Exploding Mexican Lasagna

Exploding Mexican Lasagna was the new dish I tried to make for last nights dinner.

Well, exploding wasn't part of the recipe but that's what happened.

My husband requested Mexican Lasagna and my seven year old helped prepare it. The oven was on and the the dish was sitting on one of the stove burners (the burner was not on). I started to pick the dish to put it into the preheated oven and - pow! the glass baking dish broke into a hundred pieces ( I didn't actually count them but I tried to clean them all up - husband found one tiny piece with his toe this morning ) and our dinner was on the floor.

After I got the mess cleaned up (including a little bit of blood from a cut on my finger) we went out for dinner.

I was disappointed that we didn't get to enjoy the Mexican Lasagna - it looked really good before the explosion. I am very thankful that I was the only one in the kitchen when the glass broke and that my little ones didn't get hurt!
