Family Photos & Tooth Trauma

For once we got the pictures before she got hurt. These were taken September 13, 2008.
We went to the Doctor this morning (10:15 am) and she said that our four year old "is healing great without any residual facial trauma except missing tooth." This afternoon (1 pm) we saw a new pediatric dentist who took x-rays. There is some concern about the other teeth that were traumatized - they are wiggly and if they don't get more stable we may have to "say good-bye" to them - UGH! Let's hope that doesn't happen. Also they may change color :( So for now the dentist recommended a soft diet.

I'm just so thankful it was only tooth trauma and not head trauma.

Family Trip

Creation Museum dinosaurs.

It's a zonkey.
Four year old lost a tooth. Read more below.
Smiling on Sunday.

When you have four kids age 23 months to 8 1/2 years old going to another state and staying in a hotel is a trip not a vacation.
Our trip started Saturday morning. Kids were up and in the van by about 6:30. Husband came in to talk to me as 23 month old was finishing up on the potty. While he was in the house four year old fell out of the van and hit her front teeth - some blood but we got her calmed down and figured she'd be OK. Stopped and picked up some Tylenol and then drove to the Cincinnati area to visit the Creation Museum - it's just over the border in KY.

The museum was great.

We had a picnic and then went to kids baptism service to see friends we know from our time in Lansing.

Went to Cracker Barrel for dinner and then back to the hotel. The kids wanted to swim. At the pool - four year old fell and hit her front teeth again. This time she knocked the top front tooth out root and all. And - she has a big fat lip. She slept okay and hasn't seemed to be in that much pain - she's careful when eating.

Today, Sunday, has gone well. Church, lunch, rest time, pool, dinner with friends, 4th grade football game and now at 9:38pm all but the littlest one are asleep.
Tomorrow the kids and I will spend time at our friend's house while husband makes some business connections here in the Cincinnati area. When we get back to Plainfield I'll be making a dental appointment for our four year old.

This has been a memorable trip.

Celebration

My daughter and I celebrated the fact that she no longer sucks her finger! We spent a day together. We went to the zoo and the library and got a movie to watch in the evening - it was a good day. We took each other's pictures. I think she did a great job.

Who's the boss?

Tonight I gave my 2nd grader permission to call her friend on the phone and talk for 10 minutes. The girls are both 7 years old.
Well, I overheard something that made me laugh. Hope those of you who have kids enjoy it too.
My daughter said to her friend...
"When I'm 21 I can make decisions on my own but right mom gets to boss me around."

My messy eater...

Spaghetti and chocolate pudding. Yummy!

Birthday basketball

The red head turned seven on Saturday. See the basketball she got. So did her little brother and ever since it's been "my big ball" accompanied sounds of displeasure if he's not allowed to play with it. So, at the end of the month I think he's getting a "big ball" of his own.

Labor Day

The kids are doing well in school. My 2nd grader loves it and my 3rd grader is adjusting. He really likes the Accelerated Reader program.

They had Labor Day off so we went to visit my husband's uncle in Brown County. Uncle Mel is building a house and barn. We all had a great time.
