growing

Well, the little guy is growing bigger and he's very curious - always exploring. I used to wonder at the story a friend told of finding her one year old on top of the refrigerator. Now, I see how that could happen. Joshua climbs up onto the couch and has made his way onto the kitchen table a few times. We regularly remind him of the verse "Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified..." He's our little adventurer.

BOOKS

Our family enjoys books. Growing up I always remember mom having a book. We could see the public library from our house and called it our library. When I was in elementary school mom became the librarian. So, it's no wonder that I enjoy reading. Following are posts about the books that I'm currently reading. I'd love to hear what you're reading.

marriage

This book isn't about marriage but it is helping mine grow. The book links spiritual and emotional maturity. My husband and I and his sister have been reading the book and discussing the content. Everyone has emotions (my husband used to claim he didn't - I just smiled and went err inside). We all need to learn to deal with emotions in a healthy way. I'm so glad to have this resource because I want to teach my children how to deal with emotions in a healthy way and you can't teach something if you don't know it.

daily

church

I'm attending a class on Sunday mornings. The class is studying this book. This book stresses the importance of thinking about what you think about and making sure that you think about good things.

money

My husband and I listened to this one on cd. And we are doing our best to apply the principles. We want to get out of debt as soon as possible!

parenting

I need to read more of this book - especially since we have four kids and they are all so different! There's a really good section on anger and love. It talks about how destructive anger is when it comes out as passive aggressive behavior. The book speaks to the importance of teaching our children to express anger in a healthy way.

health

I'm still working on this book. It was the text for a class Kevin and I went to this past summer. A friend who we really respect taught the class. Our chiropractor also recommended the book. The three principles the book talks about are 1. Eat what was created for food. 2. Eat it unprocessed. 3. Don't become addicted to any food/drink.

fiction

Just reading this book for entertainment.
It does explore grief and forgiveness within family relationships.

I picked it up when I was at my mom's house.

Going Strong

Well, the little guy is doing much better. Everyone has had a few cold symptoms but we are all much better now. Here are a few pictures of the little guy playing and "studying" with his siblings.

Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to doctor we go

Tomorrow the little guy has a "well child" check up. But, he's not well. And, his parents are very tired.
Thursday the little guy lost his lunch and he's had a fever and other cold symptoms off and on ever since. We've done lots of snuggling this weekend (day and night).
I hope the doctor visit helps. Of course often if you make an appointment for a sick child, the child isn't showing symptoms when you get to the appointment. Or the doctor says, "it's probably a virus" which means thanks for paying me and there's nothing I can do for you kid.
Hopefully our little guy will be up and playing soon.
